  • Market Access: Holmes County’s location is within a two-hour drive of the port city of Cleveland and is within a half day’s interstate drive of over twenty major metropolitan areas. 

      • Road: Holmes County is serviced by a grid of approximately 274 miles of U.S. and state highways, providing easy access to larger thoroughfares to the north, south, east and west. U.S 30, a major four-lane highway, providing convenient access to Interstates 71 and 77 is situated only ten miles to the north and can be easily reached via State Route 83.

        • Freight Transport: The following trucking companies offer a variety of freight transport services, including regional, and long-haul carrier service, as well as truckload and LTL services:
          • B & L Transport
          • Berlin Transportation
          • Mast Trucking Service
        • Parcel Service: Federal Express, United Parcel Service and the United States Postal Service offer parcel pickup and delivery services throughout the county.

     

      • Air: The Holmes County Airport recently completed a major expansion, adding a 4,400’ asphalt runway to the facility. The airport offers 24 hour general aviation service. In addition, the following international airports are located within a 90-minute drive from Holmes County:
        • Akron-Canton Regional Airport (45 miles): Airlines offering service out of CAK include American, Delta, Spirit and United.   
        • Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (70 miles): Cleveland Hopkins is Ohio’s busiest airport, serving more than 9 million customers per year. CLE offers more than 150 daily nonstop departures.
        • John Glenn Columbus International Airport (80 miles): John Glenn Columbus offers more than 30 daily nonstop departures.  

     

      • Water
        • Port of Cleveland: The Port of Cleveland and Lake Erie is approximately 75 miles from Holmes County. It has the best heavy lift capacity of the Great Lakes ports. Port facilities include nine berths and 6,500 linear feet of dock space. All docks are maintained at full seaway depth.
        • Ports of Columbiana County: The Ports of Columbiana County handle 15 million tons of cargo per year; more than any other port on the Ohio River. The port system provides year-round international cargo service via the ports of New Orleans and southwest Louisiana.

     

    • Rail: There are approximately ten miles of active rail line passing through Holmes County. Norfolk Southern provides rail service in the northwest portion of the county, with access in the Loudonville Industrial Park, and Ohio Central Railroad services the southeast portion of the county.
